TCD Radon Series

Radon is a natural, tasteless, odorless, colorless, radioactive gas produced from the decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. Radon gas moves from the ground under and around your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Nearly one out of every 15 homes in the U.S. is estimated to have elevated radon levels. The only way to know the radon level in your home is to test, and it is recommended to test your home every two years.

Radon appears to be the leading cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers. Given the increased potential for lung cancer the radon hazard brings, Kansans should be asking themselves, “Have we tested our home yet?”

Check out these videos from our TCD Radon Series to learn more about how you can protect your home and family from this invisibly deadly gas. Stop by your local Twin Creeks Extension Office to grab your free home testing kit, test your home, gather your results and plan to join us on February 23rd for a Q&A Zoom session to answer all of your mitigation questions!

Special thanks to Midwest Energy for their sponsorship of approximately 20 free test kits per county in the Twin Creeks District!!
